About KC Blau

KC Blau is an American author and the writer of Dear Niece: What No One Tells You, Book One of the We Roar Series, a wise, funny, fiercely loving book of life advice for young women finding their way.

Her work is rooted in curiosity: about women’s lives, family stories, old cities, difficult choices, private courage, and the strange ways the past keeps speaking to the present. Before writing Dear Niece, KC focused much of her fiction and research on women in turn-of-the-century Vienna, a city she first fell in love with as a student abroad and one that has shaped her imagination for more than fifteen years.

Her research for Women and Wild Savages, her first historical novel, set in early-twentieth-century Vienna, has taken her into the Vienna City Archives, the Austrian National Archives, and deep into books, films, and documentaries about the period. As a certified German-English translator, she works closely with language, history, and cultural context—the small details that can change the meaning of a story.

KC holds a doctorate in Literature from the University of Vienna, an MFA from Seton Hill University in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, and a BA from American University in Washington, DC. She has also studied Chinese at Beijing Language and Culture University.

Besides writing, KC wandering through unfamiliar places, reading, hiking, running slowly, and asking too many questions.
